Langcaster Guitars is a New Zealand-based guitar brand founded by a Dutch luthier. The company is renowned for crafting guitars from prehistoric swamp kauri wood, which has been carbon-dated to be over 35,000 years old. This ancient wood imparts a unique aesthetic and tonal quality to the instruments.

A notable innovation from Langcaster is their Ultimate Lo Pickups. These low-impedance pickups are designed with stacked coils and specialized winding techniques, resulting in higher fidelity and reduced noise. To complement these pickups, Langcaster developed an integrated preamp and overdrive circuit, known as the Ultradrive, which is powered by a 9V battery. This setup allows guitarists to achieve clean tones as well as overdriven sounds directly from the instrument.
